Queensland Early Motorcycle Sports Club - Ordinary Meeting 343
9 June 09
Discussion Points
- Member suggested Pro Honda/QEMSC Sausage sizzle looks like being early July.
- Story Bridge Concours (Sun, July 20) – Suggestion that QEMSC be involved with the promotion of the Australian Historic Champs with M/C Sportsmen.
- Very favourable feedback from the Warwick mayor that the council is keen to help promote the Aust Historic Champs meeting. Suggestion that it may even be possible for a demonstration run of racing bikes in a public parade.
- President & Treasurer volunteered to be Qld representatives at the Historic Forum in Sydney.
- Action.Item - Day Licence forms available from MQ, for Stanthorpe meeting need collection.
- Advice that M/C Sportsmen & QEMSC had discussed expanding Historic racing presence at M/C Sportsmen’s race meetings, a separate race could be arranged if 12 or more entries were received.
- Ian Milton, Rob W, Leo Cash & Sheralyn McGlinchey had a meeting with John Tetley (QIR) regarding motorcycle racing at Lakeside. – Latest update is that Tetley seemed very keen to get m/c racing happening. John Tetley had offered that if a meeting was organised at Lakeside for the week after the Historic Champs, he could provide secure storage of interstate & local race bikes at QIR. Insurance doesn’t seem to be an issue. Tom Williams (M/C Sportsmen) offered to do Lakeside track inspection for free to determine if it could be licenced for (historic) bikes incl. P5. There would be 95dB noise limit. Vice President has been invited by John Tetley to take his sidecar to Lakeside for noise testing.
- Member raised matter of security concerns on personal information from Historic Logbooks being made “public”. Action Item – this matter to be raised at next Historic Sub committee meeting.
- Member reported that the Mt Cootha Classic promotion had been good for promo for QEMSC. 39 solos & 6 outfits ran. Hansford bikes went down well with the public. Member mentioned that the requested noise limit for motorcycles at Mt Cootha wasn’t always respected & didn’t help the cause for future historic motorcycle involvement.
