Queensland Early Motorcycle Sports Club -

Ordinary Meeting 10 Mar 09
Discussion Points

  • MOMS Rule 16.4.3.1 “All machines must be fitted with an effective silencer.” It seems whether they need them to comply with Rule 16.3, Noise Emissions – Historic Road Racing (generally 102dB) or not.
  • Period 4, Rule 16.6.4.3  “Pumper Carb” issue.
Ross Martin, MA, has stated that:
Under the current rules, and irregardless of whether they were in use during the period, the carburetors (“Pumpers”) described are not allowed.
If your correspondent wants to ask for a rule change he will need to send a rule alteration request to MA.”
  • Sheralyn McGlinchey & Leo Cash, M/C Sportsmen, advised that “The Sportsmen” were seeking assistance at the Aust. Historic Champs at Morgan Park in Sept. Reiterated that they had established relatively good relationships with Morgan Park management. Derek Rumble would be Chief Scrutineer. There would be NO additional sidecover requirements for Historic bikes. Ian Milton, Glynn Leitch volunteered to help out.

M/C Sportsmen will advise us of Historic Champs Sub-Committee meeting dates,              shortly.

  • Next QEMSCStanthorpe meeting – July 25th & 26th 2009.
The Council has confirmed QEMSC dates. Sup. Regs will be basically the same as last year.
  • Web master, David Vincent, would like to see continual development & new content on the QEMSC website. Any members are welcome to submit “articles” for inclusion.
  • Ian Milton re Cootha Classic: The demonstration runs are open to all “Modern Classics”. Ian suggests we treat it as a promotional opportunity not only for QEMSC & Historic Motorcycle Racing but for motorcycling in general.  He suggested the Club take the opportunity to have a drive to boost club membership. It was agreed a new promotional brochure would be produced.
  • The Classic Dirt meeting at Connondale, 6th, 7th & 8th of June is a great event worthy of interest for those with suitable bikes.
  • Favorable report from member on progress and alterations at Lakeside.
  • Update on Esk Track – the proposal has been delayed somewhat by the raising of an issue by the “anti-brigade” bring up a “Registered Wetland” issue on the property. The applications to ALL relevant Govt. Departments now need to be resubmitted.
This however gives those that didn’t do it before, another opportunity to send in letters of support for the project.
