MQ Historic Sub Committee minutes

10 March 2009

Present: - Wayne Skyring, Robert Walker, John Munns and Tony Jacobs.

Apologies: - Nil

Minutes of the February meeting were read and noted as being correct.

Business arising from previous minutes

Action Item QHSC 38 – Ross Martin from MA has responded to advise that under the current wording the carburetors described are not allowed.

Action Item QHSC 39 – Lindsay Granger, GM of MQ has offered to conduct noise testing of bikes without silencers, believed to comply with the current noise emission limits.  If any are found to comply then perhaps the wording of the rule should be reviewed.

Action Item - QHSC 40

Advice on the MA response to QHSC 28 has been relayed to QEMSC at their March general meeting.  Members present asked if it was allowable to remove the pumper action with in the units or do the carburettors need to be replaced.  To support the retention of the old units it was put that the units were standard fitment to certain bikes from the era and to fit other carburettors would detract from the authenticity of the bikes.  As this action would removed any perceived advantage of the pumper units the QHSC felt this was a suitable solution.  The removal of the mechanism can be easily checked by officials.

Action – MA to advise of eligibility of carburettors with pump mechanism removed.
